Meet Tulip and Daffodil aka The Tadpoles!

Alexis named them. I'm not sure why she chose flowers, but it works!

The Tadpoles

I had forgotten how cute tadpoles are! I mean seriously look at that little face!

The Tadpoles

They came boxed in Styrofoam and each in their own little individual bag:

Then you had to float them in their habitat to acclimate them much like you do when you buy a new fish for an aquarium:

And now they are swimming free! This will be a fun little experiment for Lex. I love this kind of stuff!

Alexis is starting to move in to some second grade work as of this week. So proud of my little tea cup!

Also Lex got a "Grow Your Own Frog" kit for Christmas from Grams and Pop. We got our tadpoles today! So cute! We'll have pictures soon.

Painted Lady Butterfly Garden

Painted Lady Butterfly

Alexis got a "butterfly garden" for her birthday. You got the "garden" and then sent off for the caterpillars. This was our big science project for the summer. They ship 5 and guarantee that at least 3 of them will become butterflies. Lex got lucky and all five made it!

We decided to release 3 of them and keep two to see if they'll lay eggs. Today we let three of them go! All of the butterflies that came out of the "garden" were more than happy to sit on Alexis' finger while they acclimated to being outside and this suited her just fine!

Who says science isn't fun? ;oP
