Bush, European Leaders Remain Divided

What a surprise!! I was getting my car's oil changed the other day and had the unfortunate experience to sit in a waiting room with Fox News running after the UN vote. I mean if you listen to those guys, basically it was an acknowledgement of America's absolute power to do whatever we want anywhere on the planet. When I got to some less partisan news sources, I have to say that I was not surprised to discover that it was actually a vote on giving Iraq it's sovereignty back from America, that can hardly be consider a striking victory for unilateralism, I guess it just depends on which news programs you watch.

Read more here of how Europeans are less than onboard with us.

Your lack of geographcial knowledge is somewhat disturbing. France, Germany and Russia are not the only countries in Europe so please don't categorize an entire continent with the sentiments of three countries reaping profits from Saddam Hussein and the UN "Oil for Food" program. In case you didn't notice, Britain, Italy, Spain (before the socialists took over), Poland, among others, are or were part of the coalition sent to remove Saddam from power. Since you cite the G8 article, you may want to know that Japan (part of the coalition) and Canada (who holds similiar French and German anti-American sentiments) aren't in Europe. It seems to me that the actions of so many in concert with each other can hardly be described as unilateralist.

Also, depite what you or your "news sources" think, America did not invade Iraq for conquest. From the get go, the policy of this nation was to return sovereignty to Iraq to its people as quickly as possible, rendering your statement of "a striking victory for unilateralism" as pretty meaningless.
