U.S. to Get International Election Observers

I'm glad they were able to get the observers in, despite the Republican opposition. It's important for the long term health of our country that people believe that their vote is not only going to be counted, but that the process is not inherently flawed. I'm glad the International Community has been so generous as to provide us with a little help to make sure everything stays above the board. I found Representative Buyer's comments the perfect reason why the election needs to be observed by outsiders. He said "For over 200 years, this nation has conducted elections fairly and impartially, ensuring that each person's vote will count..". I mean that shows he doesn't even understand how the process works in most states. Several states count until they have a clear majority and just stop counting. So each person's vote is not being counted. I mean Republicans themselves bring this up every time you mention the popular vote in the 2000 election. And the entire concept that it has always been done fairly shows a complete lack of knowledge of history. This country was founded on corrupt politics, I mean the American revolution was a handful of rebels rising up, hardly a representative majority of the country at the time. And let's not even get into the corruption that has been exposed on a regular basis at the State level. In spite of our best intentions corruption abounds in this country and if some disinterested third party is willing to give us a hand with it, all the better.
