Well it appears to be taking a similar path to Frances. You kids in Florida keep your heads down and report in when you get a chance. We will keep the people of Florida in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank-you Sir. Heavy ideological sparring notwithstanding, prayers are always appreciated. :)
Looks like Jeanne decided to pay Tampa a little visit. I was awakened around 5:30 sunday morning when the power went off. I run a fan and an air filter at night (allergies and the sound helps me sleep). (Annessa is out of town to attend a funeral so she missed this one). So the power goes out. There's no sound except the beep of the battery backup for the computer.
I turn on the radio (stocked plenty of batteries last time for radio and flashlights) and local radio personality Jack Harris is saying "If you are just getting up, surprise surprise." Great. I find out Jeanne is heading this way. The weather is already nasty so I call emergency management, give a guy my situation, and he says I am probably just as well riding it out (as opposed to trying to drive to a shelter).
So I did. Transported ice, lunchmeat and half a leftover Litte Caesars pizza to the cooler. Spent alot of time rationing pizza, reading, talking on the phone and napping. This morning there was still no power but I called and found out our work building has power.
So a quick shower by battery-powered lighting (and not cold I might add, the water stayed warm in the hot water heater tank) and to worl I came.
I saw a tree leaning against a power line by our apartments. The cause of the outage I presume. I am thankful that it didn't lean the other way and lean on the apartment complex.
Lots of foliage in the streets, on cars and houses...pretty much everywhere. Not a whole lot of people at work.
Miguel if you read this I hope all is well on your end of town.

Hey, I can't fix your ideology if your dead. :)
Glad to hear you made it through ok.

Well, I've managed to survivie through another hurricane relatively unscathed. Our roof leaked a little as did window on the first floor (we live in a townhouse) because the moron who built the deck never sealed the bolts correctly. We lost cable and internet access, but at least we have power.
My parents didn't fare as well, an oak tree fell on the garage. The roof collapsed (just the portion over the garage) and the door is trashed. I haven't heard if the cars inside survived.
