Shooter Jennings
Normally, I wouldn't have anything positive to say about anyone that associates with Toby Keith. His ruthless partisanship during the last election to support Bush and his shameless explotiation of US Soldiers for personal gain in his videos, ranks him pretty high on my list of worthless scum. And before all you neo-Con nutjobs go nuts, I'm well aware that he's a Democrat, but lay down with dogs, come up with fleas. Or in this case, consort with godless Republican fanatics against the United States, gain the wrath of those of us that stand against them and all the evil their way of life represents.
Ok, somehow I got off topic. Let's try this again. Shooter Jennings has a great song called "4th of July". I've provided a link below to their website where you can listen to it. I've also provided a link for their album, I've heard none of the other songs on the album. The 4th of July song really appeals to me because it reminds me of the year before Dianne and I got married. We drove all over the countryside going to her family functions. We didn't have a dime to our names, we couldn't afford to go, and yet we pulled it off time and again. Somewhere in all that mess we abandoned who were were, we fell in love and became the couple you see before you today. It's rare that a song takes me back because I have so little in common with most people, but this one even connects to me. Listen to song on their website and if you feel the urge buy their album.

I agree! I love this song! Maybe Southern Rock isn't dead!

I wouldn't go so far as to say it was ever alive. But every once in a while a bunch grungy drunk southern boys happen upon something that has a wider appeal for one reason or another. This happens to be one of the best ones.

Shooter is one country-ish guy I like (& it's a pretty short list). Did you know that he's Waylon Jennings son? Guess it's like father like son - little bit drunk, little bit outlaw.

Interesting, I didn't know that! Now that I think about it there is an album cover on the wall that looked sort of like Waylon Jennings, but I didn't know about the relationship to make the connection. All the outlaw country guys look the same so it's hard to know anything about who they are related too.
