TDK Develops 100GB Blu-ray Disc

WOW!!! Now that's what we need 100 GB BD's!!! BD is the base acronym you're all going to have learn so start now. It means Blu-ray Disk and there are the BD-R's and BD-RE's. Not sure why they went away from the RW moniker, but hey confusion about technology keeps us techies gainfully employed. Of course these disks won't be available until 2007, which is like forever and a day away in computer time. Of course this was the answer the HD-DVD people who managed to increase their maximum capacity up to 45 GB in a desperate to catch up with the first generation of the Blu-ray technology. I think they are going to find the market a little on the unreceptive for this weak half step forward, but one positive thing I have to say for them, trying to make their format more compatible with Blu-ray is a good effort for their customers, because much like the Betamax their technology is pretty much going to be crushed out of existence in a pretty short amount of time and the fools that invested in it are going to be off by themselves trying to figure out what to do with the crap they bought.
