Senate leaders discuss potential Supreme Court nominees
First let me be clear, I have no doubt in my mind that Bush and his Neo-Christian allies will not even entertain the notion of picking a decent candidate for the Supreme Court. They are pretty much set on the path of destruction of America so they won't consider anything that would avert that. Which brings up the suggestions from the Democrats for the as of yet confirmed opening on the court.
Senator Mel Martinez of Florida
Senator Mike DeWine of Ohio
Senator Mike Crapo of Idaho
Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina
At first glance at their records they're Republicans so the notion of them serving on any decision making body is nauseating, but as I dug a little deeper beyond the hate ideology that Republicans shield themselves with they actually represent pretty much the crème of the Republican crop. DeWine and Graham are members of the moderate 14 in the Senate, which speaks volumes for their character despite their conservative views on issues. They aren't puppets of the right wing hate mongers. Martinez for all of his failures as a human being has the character to take responsibility for what is happening around him, a completely alien behavior for your average Republican these days. Crapo is a conservative with actual experience in the upper courts, which is more than a lot of the candidates that the Bush people have been kicking around have. While I wouldn't be happy with any of them, if you had to make a list of conservatives to be on the Supreme Court I could find a way to support any of these guys.
