New Camera Dreaming

For a while now I've been looking at new cameras. I want a digital SLR and have been weighing the pros and cons of the ones that look interesting to me. I'm looking at the Nikon D70 and D100, the Canon EOS Rebel Digital SLR and the Canon Digital SLR EOS 20D. Right now I'm leaning toward one of the Canons. I have the film version of the Rebel and I love that camera! But I have to admit the Canon 20D is probably the front runner at this moment in time. Of course it will be a little while before I purchase one since I'm in the process of saving up for it. Right now my Ireland fund has temporarily become my camera fund. We have a Sony Mavica that we bought shortly before Alexis was born that has served us well, but I'm growing increasing irritated with the fact that the shots are not instant. Don't get me wrong it takes great pictures, but I don't know how many wonderful pictures of Alexis I have missed because of the lag time, thus the need for a SLR. Plus I like the increased megapixel values too. I've come across a few cameras that I like in the 12+ megapixel range, but as Jamison pointed out the human eye can't tell the difference and really they are way out of my price range at the moment. The 20D weighs in with 8.2 megapixels and I think that is just fine for my needs right now. So now I just have to watch and wait. Maybe I'll catch a sale or something. Or maybe I just need to convert my craft fund into the camera fund for a while...now there's an idea!

personally, I LOVE the D70. Best camera I have owned yet, and I have 3 SLR's. :)

I know someone else who loves their D70. What other 2 do you own?

cjmr's camera is an EOS Digital Rebel. She seems to like it...

She emailed me and said she loved hers. I'll have to look at that one a little more closely. I have the 35mm version on the Rebel and I've always been very happy with it. It takes beautiful pictures!
