Bicycle Sales Are Exploding

I saw this headline and I figured I would find something on AMCGLTD about it, since Scott is so obsessed with biking lately. Americans have bought 19 million bikes, the most since the oil crisis in the 1970's. Maybe the similarities between the Bush Administration and the Carter Administration made Scott uncomfortable, who knows? I would think it's more likely related to the obesity problem in this country. Biking is a good way to exercise. Of course drivers are so inconsiderate these days it's really dangerous to be out on a bike. I'm sure we will see a rise in bike-car fatalities.

I have a friend who says we are headed the way of Europe...more bikes and mopeds. I kinda discounted his ideas until a little old man on a moped passed a friend of mine on his way from Athens to Etowah. Can you imagine riding a moped that distance? He's lucky he didn't get killed!

Moped's get great gas mileage, I could see where a person of limited resources would be forced to use one given the current energy crisis.

I actually came this close to linking it, but if you had any idea the grief I get from my mom every time I link something bike-related up.

On a related note, if you guys ever get in the mood to pick up some pedal-powered conveyances, let me know, I'll make sure you don't get busted.

I could make some crack about sticking it to evil "Godless Christian Neo-cons", but instead I'll just wait and drop you for real on the trail.
