Josh Green Profiles Rahm Emanuel
I've definitely been impressed with Rahm Emanuel the more I find out about him. As you may recall after he outlined his top 5 agenda items for the Democratic platform while throughly embarrassing his Republican counterpart on air, I went through and cleaned them up a bit to make them more reasonable. If you have the time to read the entire Rolling Stone article it's very interesting. I agree with the author...as a member of the blogsphere I really want every Democrat to have his kind of energy and strength of purpose. I don't care that we don't agree on everything...I just want people to be serious about fighting for their country and not so worried about getting reelected. If you're right there is no need to be timid about anything. He sounds like he would be a inspiration to work with that's for sure. I really like that he's implementing a code of conduct in return for getting support from the DCCC. I've found that to be the most annoying part about Democrats especially in the House. I mean Democrats aren't jack booted thugs like Republicans, but at least they watch out for each other on things in the name of party unity. Sometimes you have to vote to get re-elected and that's fine, but I swear sometimes they just do stuff to their own party out of spite. That's completely uncalled for. I think he should add a term limit Constitutional amendment to the Democratic agenda. 12 year limit (6 full terms in the House or 2 full terms in the Senate) for every seat from the addition of the amendment to the Constitution. That would decrease the accumulation of power and it's always popular with the voters. By doing it as a Constitutional amendment it pushes the actual work off to the States and the Republicans are guaranteed to vote against it until they've lost all credibility.
