The Virginia recount

For those of you that are unaware there is a recount going on in Virginia right now. I know what you're thinking, months after the elections are over, how can they not know who the winners are. Well the Attorney General race in Virginia was so close (324 votes) that it caused an automatic recount of the votes. Now I know what you Godless Neo-cons are thinking, which is why I used the word automatic. No Democratic conspiracy, just state law at work here. This is where things get interesting. One type of counting machine used in 30 counties in Virginia has been discovered to be missing ballots. Once again no conspiracy, just a flaw in the way the thing is processing the ballots. Sometimes they get run through a couple at a time and some aren't getting counted. I know what you're thinking...simple enough Jamison, just recount them and clear things up. This kind of stuff happens all the time in elections, which is why when it's so close we do recounts to get accurate numbers. Enter the evil Republicans in to a pure and non-partisan procedure. Dishonest Republicans have decided that if it's been discovered that they didn't win at the ballot box, they are going to attempt to pull an end run around the voters. They've gotten a panel of judges to agree to ignore the inconsistencies because they aren't "significant", so the Republicans have staged a recount of ballots that confirm their worthless piece of human trash candidate is the winner. Remind anyone of Florida? If somehow there were a significant number of mistakes they plan to contest the election and push it into the state legislature. For those of you that don't know, the legislature of Virginia is filled with your average America hating Republicans we've all come to despise and mistrust. It's pretty much guaranteed that they will try to make the state worse off by having more of their worthless kind placed into office. The Republicans are working feverishly to overturn the will of the people before it gets to that point by trying to cover up the failures in the election hoping to win the fight in the courts because they can't win them at the voting box. I'm not sure how this is going to turn out, but I expect that we will see the standard kind of Republican dishonesty and vote stealing that we've come to expect from the culture of corruption that defines the Republican hate ideology. And why should anyone outside of Virginia care about this? Because fighting for the right to vote for every American against the Republican efforts to destroy and taint that process is our patriotic duty.
