DeLay Shrinkage?
He doth protect too much! The Sociologist in me loves statistical data to work with, but the experienced partisan in me knows better than to trust data from Red States. Republicans are notorious for being whiners. When interviewed they will scream and yell about the corruption and insanity of the Republican leadership only to vote like automatons when alone in the voting booths. I think things might be bad for DeLay and he might be shaky among Independents, but in the end it's Texas, a red state with no concept of morality. We must remember that the culture of Corruption permeates down into the average home in red states like Texas. Breaking the law doesn't carry with it the stigma that it would in a more civilized part of the country. I think the numbers are way over high favoring the Democrat. I don't think DeLay will win with a majority of a votes, but I still think that when the whiners get in the voting booth they'll vote for him anyway. Barring that I think DeLay's friends in the Texas vote counting office will "make" the results work out the way it "should" turn out. Until I see Lampson regularly polling at above 50 I'm not getting my hopes up.
