Apparently You Can't Get A Minute To Yourself

When Alexis is quiet and you're in another room you know it's time to go check on her. So what before my wondering eyes did appear today when I went to check on my darling silent minion but a BLOODY FINGER!! Alexis had taken it upon herself to "help" unload the dishwasher and she cut her finger on a knife. It amounted to the equivalent of a paper cut, but when you walk around the corner and your child is trying to hide their finger from you because they know they are in trouble and you see BLOOD you freak the hell out!!! You start imagining a severed finger or a cut so deep you can see bone! Your mind immediately sees the worst! She was so quiet because she knew she wasn't supposed to unload the dishwasher alone, let alone EVER touch a knife! When she realized her ruse was up THEN she started to cry. Want to know why? It wasn't because her finger actually hurt, it was because she knew she was in trouble and "Mommy was sad"!! We cleaned it up and put on a bandaide, which she keeps taking off, and she'll look at her finger and say "Oh gosh!!" Oh gosh is right my little hellion!! You're lucky you didn't cut your finger off!! I swear, some days I can assure you I DON'T GET PAID ENOUGH FOR WHAT I DO!!!!

I now return you to your regularly scheduled Daffodil Lane.

Oh no! I'm so glad she's ok. It's sweet that she's so helpful even though she got a little hurt in the process.

She LOVES to unload the dishwasher! We let her help us by putting things away that on her level like the lids for the pots and pans and the silverware. But she knows she isn't supposed to do it by herself and she knows that knives and scissors are off limits! Thus the allure I'm sure. She figured out how to unlock the dishwasher by herself so she thought it was be nice to help. She's sweet, but she's a handful! LOL :o)
