Wal-Mart Is in Maryland to Stay

Boy to hear the hysterical radical right wing Republicans they sure believed otherwise. That business will never tolerate any limitations on their maximized profit making potential. Only when they can keep us as slaves sucking the marrow from our very bones will they be happy. That's if you're a Republican, the rest of us are of course sane. The Washington Post posted a commentary from the CEO from Wal-Mart on the subject of law passed in Maryland that required that if Wal-Mart wasn't going to cover their employees they needed to pay money to the state to cover them, since we the tax payers of Maryland were having to cover them anyway. I mean this isn't radical stuff here, Corporate Welfare is sickening. As Wal-Mart posts records profits across the nation, we the tax payers are covering their medical insurance budget for them. And it's not right. This isn't one of those grey areas, it's my freaking money, giving it away to a corporate giant for political purposes offends me. Wal-Mart's political contributions have almost been exclusively Republican in nature. I see them as nothing more than an extension of the Republican party. The notion that the Republicans are putting their burdens on me, so they can donate more of their ill gotten gains into supporting radical anti-America Republicans is beyond offensive.

That all being said, what I found missing from Mr. Scott was his plan for getting around the extra taxes. See all he's got to do to get around it is figure out a way to get the vast majority of his employees on company insurance. That completely eliminates any sort of extra charge from the state. And you see that's how Republicans always think and act. They don't try to solve the problem, they pay the fine and move on. Always the heads buried in the sand. Mr. Scott has the opportunity here to take a leadership role, but as a Republican he can't bring himself to even consider it. If Mr. Scott and the might of Wal-Mart would stop working to get out of paying for it and instead find a way to bring their vast empire of infrastructure of actually solving the problem, in a matter of years this episode will be a long forgotten piece of history. We all know the vast majority of the money going towards insurance is going to maintain a bureaucracy which only exists to deny access to healthcare. The entire healthcare establishment is living in the 1920's along with the rest of the Republican party. There are a million places where Wal-Mart could step in and apply their knowledge and experience, increasing the quality of care for all Americans but instead they just step back and let things run amok and play games with their employees and customers lives. Leadership...it's just not in the DNA of Republicans.
