OK, All Dogs Aren't Bad

Alexis and I ran over to Whole Foods today to get some beans and things that she was out of and invariably when we are there we run into Starbucks first to get her a "Berry Cream" and for me these days it's an unsweetened venti green iced tea. When we came out of Starbucks Miss Alexis froze in her tracks and at first I didn't realize what stopped her cold because I was trying very hard not to trip over her head or spill my tea. When I glanced over I realized what had brought her to a stop...a Siberian Husky. She was staring at the dog in awe and reached up and and grabbed my hand, "Mommy...it's a wolf! He's so cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuutttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttteeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!" Then he started barking because he saw a bird and well that's what dogs do, but she took it in stride, "Birdie! Fly away! The Wolf is hungry!" I didn't have the heart to tell her the bird in question was injured and wasn't going anywhere, but that's beside the point.

Alexis was fascinated by this dog and I must say I was too. I've always loved Siberian Huskies because of the very thing Alexis pointed out...they look like wolves! And I've never come across an aggressive husky and I've been around a lot of huskies in my day! For the most part they are pretty laid back. I hadn't seen one in person in years and I immediately fell in love with them all over again. My parents had a German Sheppard when I came along and I must say I like big dogs, well most of them anyway...the neighbors sickly, nasty, nappy, disgusting dog I must admit I feel sorry for, but I hate that monster being in my yard, but again I digress.

This dog loved Alexis and licked her in the face several times, which I didn't know how she would react to, but she took in stride. "Mommy the wolf give me kisses!" I asked the "wolf's" owner if it bothered him that Alexis talked to/touched his dog and he was empathic, "Not at all! He loves kids and it's obvious your little beauty likes him too." (He was Australian...what is about Australian and English accents...They could tell you to go straight to hell and you would still be completely charmed! And the fact he thought my daughter was a "beauty" made me smile.) So Alexis and the "wolf" bonded never to see each other again, which was bittersweet yet how life works. The whole way home Alexis talked non-stop about the "wolf" and how he gave her "kisses" and how soft his "hair" was and how "pwetty" his "bue" eyes were. (Again, those icy blue eyes that husky's have...Oh my those are gorgeous!!)

When I got home I sent Jamison this link and told him I wanted a Siberian Husky. Before I met Jamison I had always thought I would end up with cats and dogs at this point in my life and figured a husky would be part of that, but so far it's just fish and more and more lately that fact makes me sad. So Jamison...I know you hate animals and you really hate cats so I've decided we'll bargain no cats, no yapper dogs, but we'll get a "wolf" instead! ;o)

You seem to have forgotten that one of those "wolves" was in the cage with the Alaskan Malamute that nearly took my right arm off. I have a wee bit of an aversion (I'm still hiding under my desk hoping the email will go away) that will need to be worked on before we could end up with on.

I thought the Alaskan Malamute was the only dog in the pen...I didn't realize he had a friend.

What about an Akita? Mom's neighbor has one and he is the sweetest thing. They were out walking him one day and I told them they had a beautiful Akita, and the man stopped dead in his tracts. Apparently no one else in Etowah can tell the difference between a Husky and an Akita, but me and the dog's owners. So my statement shocked him.

I don't like the Akita's tails that much. The always look to me like they are flopped over in the wrong direction! LOL

ManDrake. How many stitches did it take to close up your arm from the mother Alaskan Malamutes bite?

Over a hundred.
