Net Neutrality
I've tried to stay out of the fray on this one, because it's one of those obvious things that I shouldn't have to talk about because it's so obviously bad. The Republicans want to help their corporate campaign contributors build a two tiered Internet. Two tiered is code for pay Internet. Right now everyone is treated as an equal on the Internet, this website, the White House website, the Fox News Website, and so on are all on equal footing. This is because the Internet was built around the notion that all information is equally good. The reality is that the supposition isn't true, but the principal itself is critical. Since there isn't really an effective way for ruthless political entities like corporations to cut us off from information the Internet has become the last remnant of what was once a great democracy. Now the Republicans who are losing control over the flow of the information from their propaganda machines, which we refer to as the traditional media, and they've decided that it's time to destroy the thorn in their side once and for all. They've led the charge to create a multi-tiered network, under the thin guise of providing the end user with less spam in their inbox. That's how Republicans work, they start with a legitimate concern and then they corrupt it to serve their long term interests of destroy this great nation. By turning this over to corporations they get to decide what is legitimate sources of information. So the next thing you know you can't get email from the Democratic party, or Moveon.org, then you can't get to their websites, and so on and so forth. Their dream is to eliminate this new organizing medium that has developed against them. With the Party strangle hold and goal of destroying America at risk, now they strike out ruthlessly with their efforts to eliminate the Internet as we know it. If we let this go forward, our grandchildren will be discussing the latest email stamp increase and be baffled by the notion that we once did all this for free and that we had the ability to filter our own email, instead of being forced by corporate America to read their advertisements. Folks the only hope for this nation's future is the vote every worthless piece of human trash that makes up any level of the Republican out of office this November. You may not have the chance to do it again, so you should act quickly. We must keep the Internet Neutral for our own futures and that of our children.
