We Aren't Flooded
We've received several emails asking if we are flooded, so I thought I'd just tell everyone here...We aren't flooded. The flooding around in the region is localized in certain areas and thankfully we aren't in the flooded locales. This morning I drove all the way to Ellicott City and back to take Alexis to the dentist and didn't see any flooding along the way. There are some flooding issues in the downtown DC and Baltimore and some of the rural areas around here, but nothing at our house other than a few mud puddles here and there. From watching the local weather earlier today Anne Arundel county received anywhere from 7-9 inches of rain over the past few days! Yikes...That's a lot of rain!!

We haven't gotten quite that much here, but the amazing thing is that it was so dry here that the low-lying areas of our lawn, although looking like swamps during the rainfall, are quickly draining. This is a marked contrast to Summer 2003, when we were chucking BT granules onto our lawn at regular intervals because there was so much standing water mosquitos were spawning in the lawn.
