Looking at the London Bomb Plot again
As I've been grappling with the information about the RWA's from John Dean's book, I've been having trouble with instantaneous commentary on events. Now that I know the pathology of the RWA's, I find myself more cautious about instantaneous conflict with them. Not out of fear, but concern that this time it might not be an RWA talking. When I heard about the plot, and it's amazing timing to help give the GOP talking points after Lieberman's crushing defeat in the Democratic primary, I was suspicious. The Authoritarians in the Republican party have a long history of abusing the politics of fear during down times in their polling or when they've totally lost momentum. RWA's see nothing wrong with lying for personal gain or the change the momentum of an election. So a healthy dose of suspicion of everything that comes out of the GOP's mouth is a safe bet and now we get a report from London on the status of the London bomb plot that the Republicans were sure would turn the tide for them.
None of the alleged terrorists had made a bomb. None had bought a plane ticket. Many did not even have passports, which given the efficiency of the UK Passport Agency would mean they couldn't be a plane bomber for quite some time. In the absence of bombs and airline tickets, and in many cases passports, it could be pretty difficult to convince a jury beyond reasonable doubt that individuals intended to go through with suicide bombings, whatever rash stuff they may have bragged in internet chat rooms. What is more, many of those arrested had been under surveillance for over a year - like thousands of other British Muslims. And not just Muslims. Like me. Nothing from that surveillance had indicated the need for early arrests. Then an interrogation in Pakistan revealed the details of this amazing plot to blow up multiple planes - which, rather extraordinarily, had not turned up in a year of surveillance. Of course, the interrogators of the Pakistani dictator have their ways of making people sing like canaries. As I witnessed in Uzbekistan, you can get the most extraordinary information this way. Trouble is it always tends to give the interrogators all they might want, and more, in a desperate effort to stop or avert torture. What it doesn't give is the truth.
Definitely not painting a rosy picture. We find out that the Authoritarians in our government pushed the British to arrest these people before they had committed any crime so that they could get the right timing for damaging their political opponents momentum. Which means these people that could have been likely terrorists are going to be let loose again to get another chance to come up with a plan on how to get us. It appears there are no limits to what the Authoritarian Republicans are willing to do to further their goals of total domination of this country. The Stay the Course mantra is the only message of the Republican party. We must stay the course despite their complete and utter incompetence and inability to handle even the most basic functions of government without attempting to politicize them for short term gain. Honestly folks can any of us afford to do that anymore? The answer is no, it's time for a change. And different RWA's won't change anything. We have to move away from the radical extremists of the Republican party once and for all. Since we can tell who they are, the only choice is to vote them all out and start over.
