More Pinwheels

As our departure for the beach gets closer (24 days!) I have been going over things in my head that we need to take with us. Groceries, clothes, towels, toys, etc. When we bought Alexis her air mattress when we thought we were going to Tennessee/Georgia before we found out Jamison had to go to Dallas for work instead, I knew that we'd be taking it to the beach with us as well. It's the perfect size for her and it's on her level. She can easily get in and out of it and that makes it easier on all of us! But today I had a thought...We don't really have a blanket or quilt that is the size of the mattress given it's a odd size. Sure she has her quilts that she sleeps with, but they are much smaller than the mattress so I decided to whip up a cute quilt to go with her travel bed that would fit and wouldn't be as easy to fall off! I dug into my stash, found the material and decided it would be fun to do some pinwheels!

And as you can see she's already thrilled with it!

It zips together quickly! You've gotta love straight lines and no pins except for the last step!

I expect to finish this by Saturday at the latest. I'll post a picture when I'm done. After that I'll tackle the beach quilt, but it's looking increasing unlikely that that one is going to make it to the beach this year! We'll see how it goes next week! :o)

I am envious that you're still at the point in life where you can go to the beach after school starts! It's too hot to even think of going to the beach during the summer -- I love to go in October or November. The quilt is cute.

We usually go the week after Labor Day. I love Hatteras Island and the lighthouses in the Outer Banks of North Carolina so we usually end up there. There is something about that island that speaks to me! :O) It's nice to go after school starts because it isn't as crowded. I don't do crowded! LOL

We actually plan on home schooling Alexis so we can still take vacations in the fall after she's of school age as well. We'll do beach themed lessons or mountain themed lessons or European themed lessons, depending on where we venture to. :o)
