Christmas Eve Conversation

After months of asking Alexis what she wanted Santa to bring her and her not telling me anything, I just got things I knew she would enjoy. I got her arty things and learning toys that I knew she would have fun playing with.

Then on Christmas Eve when I was putting her to bed she dropped the following hint:

"Mommy, in the morning when we open our presents Santa is going to leave me a Pirate patch in my stocking. He's going to leave you a Mommy Pirate patch in your stocking too!" she told me very excitedly.

"He is?" I asked all while my mind started kicking into gear on how I was going to come up with Pirate patches on Christmas Eve!

"Yes! Santa loves me!" she told me very certain of that fact.

"Yes he does," I assured her. "We'll see what he brings you in the morning."

So I put her to bed and I got to work making "Alexis and Mommy" pirate patches. It's amazing what you can do with a sewing machine, a manila folder and some elastic. If you have access to her Flickr photos then hop on over and see a picture of her with her patch. She was thrilled!

Luckily she asked me for something I could do at the last minute on Christmas Eve. I should be thankful she didn't ask me for something that Mommy Santa couldn't make, like say a castle or an airplane or such! ;o)
