Front Row Seat To History

Of all the annoyance that being involved in politics has been for me, one thing about it has been interesting for me is getting a front row seat to history in the making. I've run into our new governor so much now that he almost seems like he recognizes me...Not in the "Hey there's Jamison!" sense, but more in the "That guy again??" sort of way.

So last week when some political friends of mine said they were headed down the NOLA on vacation I didn't even think about it, but when I heard that Edwards was going to announce in NOLA, the genius of the vacation choice became clear to me. So I demanded pictures immediately. Of course I'm the only one that doesn't seem to know exactly where the most critical events in history are going on, not that I could have gone anyway.

There was an entire contingent of Kossacks there to usher in the future of American politics, just as we would have all expected:

John Edwards With The Kossacks In New Orleans

You'll notice the second woman on the left is Jennifer and her husband Mike behind her standing next to one of the front runners for President of the United States. And that's Senator Edwards in the middle of all those bloggers preparing for the future.

They also sent me a good close up picture of Edwards while he was announcing, Dianne demanded this one be at the top of the blog for the rest of time, but I'm going to relegate it to the second one on this entry:

John Edwards Announcing His Candidacy For President In 2008 In New Orleans

Here's a good one without the zoom so you can get the scope of the media coverage of the event.

Mike and Jen are also in the C-SPAN pans if you watch the announcement. So I guess I'm in the second row of history, still closer than I used to be. ;) Mike included additional pictures of their time in NOLA on his blog and it's the real vision not the GOP approved vision. Nothing has been done yet and all the money we've spent has been nothing but a Republican shell game to fund their 2006 and 2008 election cycles.
