Combining Stories

Mixing Versions

Alexis LOVES The Wizard of Oz! For Christmas my Mom got her a The Wizard of Oz dress up set and she plays with it daily. She dresses up as Dorothy or the "Wicky Witch" and spends hours playing with her imaginary dog Toto!

Invariably when she dresses up as Dorothy she always puts on one silver shoe and one ruby slipper. I informed her the other day that she was mixing her stories and she asked me "Mommy what are you saying?" That's her way of saying "Tell me more!" So I explained to her that in the book Mr. Baum had written that Dorothy's shoes were silver and not ruby, but when they made the movie the movie gods that be decided that silver shoes wouldn't show up as nicely or as sparkly on film as the ruby slippers so the infamous red shoes were born! Which I might add I totally adore and have made trips into the Smithsonian just to see the shoes they have there on display! Ah the free time in the days of having no children! ;o)

Anyway, so she continues her mixing of stories, but who's to say she's wrong? I say she's just covering all the bases! And covering your bases is always a good thing. ;o)
