Saturn Has A "New" Moon

A new moon has been discovered orbiting Saturn - bringing the planet's latest moon tally up to 60.

The body was spotted in a series of images taken by cameras onboard the Cassini spacecraft.

Initial calculations suggest the moon is about 2km-wide (1.2 miles) and its orbit sits between those of two other Saturnian moons, Methone and Pallene.

The Cassini Imaging Team, who found the object, said Saturn's moon count could rise further still.

The moon appears as a dim speck in images taken by the Cassini probe's wide-angle camera on 30 May 2007.

Professor Carl Murray, a Cassini Imaging Team scientist from Queen Mary, University of London (QMUL), said: "After initially detecting this extremely faint object, we carried out an exhaustive search of all Cassini images to date and were able to find further detections."

Not really "new" in the true sense of the word, but newly discovered none the less. I wonder what else they will find?

Perhaps She Should Go To Real Rehab This Time

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Five days after being booked in connection with a May drunken driving charge, actress Lindsay Lohan was arrested early Tuesday morning on five charges -- including drunken driving and possession of a controlled substance, Santa Monica police told CNN.

Lindsay Lohan was arrested on charges of drunken driving and possession of a controlled substance.

Police spokeswoman Calisse Lindsey said police got a call at 1:34 a.m. PT that a vehicle was chasing another vehicle in a parking lot in Santa Monica. When officers arrived, they found Lohan driving the vehicle that was chasing the other, the spokeswoman said.

The officers smelled alcohol and administered a field sobriety test, which Lohan failed, Lindsey said.

When taken to the police station, the 21-year-old actress registered 0.12 and 0.13 in blood tests for alcohol levels, the spokeswoman said. In California, the legal limit is 0.08, according to the state's Department of Motor Vehicles.

Officers also found a white powdery substance in Lohan's possession which was determined to be cocaine...

Just a thought, but maybe she should go to a real treatment program instead of Promises this time. I don't see how this ends up anywhere, but with her in jail. The thing that bothers me most is that these young stars, male and female alike, all seem to think nothing of hopping in a car when they are chemically altered. Is it a sense or entitlement they think they are due? Do they think the rules don't apply to them? Is it simply arrogance? Regardless she needs help and hopefully she'll get the help she needs, though if Hollywood's track record is anything to go by she doesn't have much hope.

How Cute Is This Guy??

Seriously how cute is this guy??

otter.jpg

The 5-month-old, 9-pound North American River Otter isn't ready yet to swim with the big boys.

"He's used to being around people," said Debbie Prevratil, curator of marine mammals and birds at the Texas State Aquarium.

Odie was found in February by a family in Tyler as he nestled against his dead mother. But they knew they couldn't keep an otter for long.

"This tough circumstance for Odie allowed us to be immediately approved to take him in," said Kristin Ralls...

How sad, but such is nature. I just can't get over how adorable he is playing with that ice! Yes...I'm amused easily! ;o)

You can read more about this little guy here.

Tammy Faye Messner Dies

(CNN) -- Tammy Faye Messner, the former televangelist and Christian singer who battled drug addiction and later inoperable cancer, died Friday morning, CNN's Larry King said Saturday night. He said the family had asked him to make the delayed announcement.

She was 65.

Messner was a guest on "Larry King Live" on Thursday. She told him she couldn't swallow food, and weighed only 65 pounds.

King said the family postponed the death announcement for a day so family members could gather. Messner was cremated and interred in a remote part of Kansas at the Kansas-Oklahoma state line, King said.

"The family appreciates all of the well wishes of so many people," the talk show host said on CNN.

"She wanted a party," King added. "They're going to schedule a party in two to three weeks in Palm Springs, California. Her friends will be invited. And she wanted it to be a celebration.

"She died peacefully. Anyone who saw her on our show this week knew that she didn't have long."

King asked her Thursday if she were "a little scared."

She responded, "A little bit," adding that she mainly worried about her family.

I can't say that I ever kept up with her evangelical career, but I had been keeping up with her cancer battle. Her attitude and spirit were so upbeat and her faith was ever present. She was bright, sunny and full of spunk! I saw her blog messages from time to time since she was diagnosed with terminal cancer and she always seemed to find the light at the end of the tunnel. May she rest in peace, finally escaping the pain of the disease of cancer.

Are You a Morning Person or Night Person?

You Are an Afternoon Person
You can find energy any time of the day ... or night!
You prefer to be out and about when most other people are.
Very early mornings or very late nights aren't really your thing.
You're practically solar powered, and the afternoon is when do best.
Are You a Morning Person or Night Person?

That's pretty acurate for me actually.

Lady Bird Johnson Passes Away

AUSTIN, Texas (CNN) -- Lady Bird Johnson, who was first lady during the 1960s and in her later years became an advocate for beautifying public landscapes, died Wednesday, family spokesman Tom Johnson said. She was 94.

She was the widow of Lyndon Baines Johnson, sworn in as the nation's 36th president on November 22, 1963, just hours after President John F. Kennedy's assassination.

Lady Bird Johnson was briefly hospitalized last month with a low-grade fever. She was released and returned to her Austin home on June 28. After suffering a stroke in 2002 that limited her ability to speak, she communicated chiefly by writing.

She always seemed like a very sweet lady. May she rest in peace.

8 Random Facts About Me

I've been tagged by Monica for 8 Random Fact About Me!

1. I hate shoes! Even in the winter I'm not much of a shoe person. In the summer it's barefoot all the way in and around the house. In the winter socks will do.

2. I have several unfinished books I have started writing just sitting on my hard drive waiting to be finished. I keep thinking I'll find time to write, but I rarely do.

3. I wear my hair up most of the time around the house, but I wear it down most of the time when I go out.

4. I'm not much of a dog person, I prefer cats.

5. I love sushi! I could eat it almost daily I think!

6. Since Alexis has been born I've taken over a hundred thousand pictures. What did we do before digital cameras? ;o)

7. I like grape jelly/jam on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and strawberry jelly/jam on toast, though sometimes I will switch them around.

8. I have an aloe plant that I forget to water for months at a time because it's in the guest bedroom and the door is often closed when no one is visiting, but it still keeps plugging along. I am convinced it is impossible to kill them, not that I am trying! LOL

That was fun! I'm not sure who to tag, but if you're reading this and you want to play along consider yourself tagged! ;o)
