Jane Wyman Dies at 93

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Jane Wyman, an Academy Award winner for her performance as the deaf rape victim in "Johnny Belinda," star of the long-running TV series "Falcon Crest" and Ronald Reagan's first wife, died Monday morning at 93.

Wyman died at her Palm Springs home, said Richard Adney of Forest Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary in Cathedral City. No other details were immediately available.

Wyman's film career spanned from the 1930s, including "Gold Diggers of 1937," to 1969's "How to Commit Marriage," co-starring Bob Hope and Jackie Gleason. From 1981 to 1990 she played Angela Channing, a Napa Valley winery owner who maintained her power with a steely will on "Falcon Crest."

Her marriage in 1940 to fellow Warner Bros. contract player Reagan was celebrated in the fan magazines as one of Hollywood's ideal unions. While he was in uniform during World War II, her career ascended, signaled by her 1946 Oscar nomination for "The Yearling."

My favorite role that she played was in Pollyanna. May she rest in peace.

Madeleine McCann's Mother Named as a Suspect

(CNN) -- Police on Friday named Madeleine McCann's mother Kate a suspect in her disappearance, and said the girl's blood was found in a vehicle the family rented 25 days after reporting her disappearance, according to a family spokeswoman.

Madeleine McCann's blood was found in a car her parents rented 25 days after they reported her disappearance, Justine McGuiness told CNN.

Kate McCann was seen going into the police headquarters in Portimao, a town in Portugal's Algarve region, on Friday morning.

She was questioned for almost 11 hours the day before, and left looking visibly shaken and drained, according to CNN's Paula Hancocks.

Gerry McCann has also now arrived at the police station for questioning.

Portuguese authorities made no public statement on the latest developments.

Philomena McCann, Madeleine's aunt, said police were suggesting Kate McCann might have accidentally killed her daughter.

"They are suggesting that Kate has in some way accidentally killed Madeleine, then kept her body, then got rid of it," Philomena McCann told Sky News.

This story has really bothered me from the very beginning. How can a story about a missing child not get to you? But the thing that bothered me the most is the parents leaving their children ALONE in a hotel so they could go out and have a nice dinner alone.

Seriously...Who does that??!??!

What goes through your head that makes you think it's ok to leave your children ALONE in a hotel room so you can go out to wine and dine with your spouse? And we're talking small chidren here, not teenagers or anything like that.

Babysitters people! Ask the hotel if they have one or can recommend one and if not then STAY WITH YOUR CHILDREN!!

It's not rocket science.

But now the mother has been charged in the little girl's disappearance. A family spokesperson is saying that it is due to the fact that they want to ask more detailed questions and under Portuguese law that's how you have to do it, but the whole story stinks to me. The piece that just doesn't make sense in the family's story...How is it possible that Madeline's blood was found in a car the family rented 25 days AFTER they had reported her missing. And if the mother did "accidentally" kill her daughter how does that happen exactly? Something stinks to high heaven with this story and to be honest it didn't smell rosy to begin with.

Pavarotti Dies

(CNN) -- Famed opera tenor Luciano Pavarotti, who appeared on stage with singers as varied as opera star Dame Joan Sutherland, U2's Bono and Liza Minnelli, died Thursday in Italy after suffering from pancreatic cancer, manager Terri Robson said in a statement. He was 71.

"The great tenor, Luciano Pavarotti, died today at 5:00 a.m. at his home in Modena, the city of his birth," according to Robson.

"The Maestro fought a long, tough battle against the pancreatic cancer which eventually took his life. In fitting with the approach that characterized his life and work, he remained positive until finally succumbing to the last stages of his illness."

I had hoped when he was released to go home that he would bounce back, but it appears that was not what fate intended. He was truly a lovely opera singer. He will be missed.

Category 5 Felix makes landfall in Nicaragua

(CNN) -- Hurricane Felix made landfall with potentially disastrous rain and top wind speeds of 160 mph (260 kph) near the Nicaragua-Honduras border Tuesday morning, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said.

Shortly before making landfall near Punta Gorda, Nicaragua, Felix regained its status as a Category 5 storm, the hurricane center said in its 8 a.m. ET update.

Felix's center was about 10 miles (15 km) north-northeast of Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua, and was moving west at about 16 mph (25 km/h), the NHC advisory said.

Felix is also slamming a section of the coast of Honduras that is home to hotels and expensive vacation homes. Across the border in Nicaragua, the coastal region is sparsely populated by Miskito Indians.

Nicaragua issued a hurricane warning from Puerto Cabezas north to its border with Honduras, and a hurricane warning remains in effect in Honduras from the border west to Limon.

Forecasters at the U.S. National Hurricane Center have said both Nicaragua and Honduras could receive 5 to 8 inches of rain, with isolated amounts of up to a foot of rain possible. Felix could also bring storm surge flooding of more than 18 feet (5.5 m) above normal tide levels.

The storm's path would take it across the mountains of Honduras and into Guatemala, where the potential for landslides is high, CNN's Rob Marciano said.

This is a very fierce storm! Our thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Honduras. They are in a for a very rough ride!
