Madeleine McCann's Mother Named as a Suspect

(CNN) -- Police on Friday named Madeleine McCann's mother Kate a suspect in her disappearance, and said the girl's blood was found in a vehicle the family rented 25 days after reporting her disappearance, according to a family spokeswoman.

Madeleine McCann's blood was found in a car her parents rented 25 days after they reported her disappearance, Justine McGuiness told CNN.

Kate McCann was seen going into the police headquarters in Portimao, a town in Portugal's Algarve region, on Friday morning.

She was questioned for almost 11 hours the day before, and left looking visibly shaken and drained, according to CNN's Paula Hancocks.

Gerry McCann has also now arrived at the police station for questioning.

Portuguese authorities made no public statement on the latest developments.

Philomena McCann, Madeleine's aunt, said police were suggesting Kate McCann might have accidentally killed her daughter.

"They are suggesting that Kate has in some way accidentally killed Madeleine, then kept her body, then got rid of it," Philomena McCann told Sky News.

This story has really bothered me from the very beginning. How can a story about a missing child not get to you? But the thing that bothered me the most is the parents leaving their children ALONE in a hotel so they could go out and have a nice dinner alone.

Seriously...Who does that??!??!

What goes through your head that makes you think it's ok to leave your children ALONE in a hotel room so you can go out to wine and dine with your spouse? And we're talking small chidren here, not teenagers or anything like that.

Babysitters people! Ask the hotel if they have one or can recommend one and if not then STAY WITH YOUR CHILDREN!!

It's not rocket science.

But now the mother has been charged in the little girl's disappearance. A family spokesperson is saying that it is due to the fact that they want to ask more detailed questions and under Portuguese law that's how you have to do it, but the whole story stinks to me. The piece that just doesn't make sense in the family's story...How is it possible that Madeline's blood was found in a car the family rented 25 days AFTER they had reported her missing. And if the mother did "accidentally" kill her daughter how does that happen exactly? Something stinks to high heaven with this story and to be honest it didn't smell rosy to begin with.

I knew this was going to end up back on the parents. The search usually starts there but then they aren't in America. That story hasn't sounded right from day one.

what i think is what was found in the car which was hired 25 days later is fluids/dna from madeline. my simple question is with all that support and sympathy i guess there were more than 20 people willing to drive them around why did they have to hire a car for one day. as the theory suggest they were moving the body from one position to another. lets look at the amount of appeal they launched it might have been to take away attention from them on their guilty. there is no smoke without fire

Since I wrote this up yesterday they've named the father as a suspect too. This whole scenario never really had a chance for a happy ending after a few days, but the possible involvement of the parents makes it that much more dire.
