What Are You Listening To: Dreary Monday Edition

"Hallelujah", k.d. lang, Hymns of the 49th Parallel (I have heard many versions of this song, but this one is by far the best I've ever listened to. Her rendition just nails the whole feeling of the song.)

"She's Like the Wind", Patrick Swayze, Dirty Dancing (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) (When I heard Patrick had cancer I got a bit nostalgic and purchased this song on iTunes. I remember watching that movie over and over as a teenager. I've watched it recently and it's a bit corny, but still.)

"No Air", Jordin Sparks & Chris Brown, Jordin Sparks (Her voice is beautiful.)

"Shine", Anna Nalick, Shine (I was surfing through iTunes one day and found this song. It just grabbed me.)

"It's Not My Time", 3 Doors Down, It's Not My Time – Single (Another song I stumbled upon. Catchy.)

"I Am One (Bonus Track)", Chrisette Michele, I Am (Bonus Track Version) ( I was looking on iTunes after Chrisette was on Girlfriends to see if I could find the song she sang there about loving yourself. Sadly they haven't released that song, though they should, and I was listening to her other songs. I fell in love with this one. She has an amazing voice and the message of this song is stirring.)

"Soulmate", Natasha Bedingfield, Pocketful of Sunshine (A beautiful song.)

"Apologize (feat. OneRepublic)", Timbaland, Shock Value (This is a beautiful song. It has a very haunting melody.)

"What I Cannot Change", LeAnn Rimes, Family (I think all of us, women especially want to be everything to everyone and sometimes you just can't. Sometimes you just have to step away. We tend to expect more out of ourselves than even others do. This song deals with just that and it's beautiful to boot.)

"A Simple Love", Melissa Etheridge, The Awakening (I've loved Melissa Etheridge since the moment I heard her sing "Come to my Window". Her voice is just beautiful.)

You're Gonna Miss This, Trace Adkins, Greatest Hits, Vol. II: American Man (A beautiful ballad that reminds you that time passes quickly and not to wish it away even if you think you don't like what's happening at the moment.)

"Hollywood's Not America", Ferras, Hollywood's Not America – Single (This is another one I stumbled across listening to various tracks on iTunes. The title says it all. It's a really beautiful song.)

"So Close", Jon McLaughlin, Enchanted (Soundtrack from the Motion Picture) (Have you seen Enchanted yet? It's an adorable movie and I fell in love with this song when I heard it and immediately purchased it on iTunes.)

"The Tide Is Turning (After Live Aid)", Roger Waters, Radio K.A.O.S. (Very poignant to what is happening in America today.)

"Radio Nowhere", Bruce Springsteen, Radio Nowhere – Single (Who doesn't like a little of the Boss now and then?)

"Your Joy", Chrisette Michele, Your Joy - Single of the Week (This was a free single a while back on iTunes. I had forgotten I had it until yesterday when we were going through my iTunes library to make Jamison a CD to take to work. Her voice as I mentioned before is just beautiful.)

"He Hates Me", Sarah Johns, He Hates Me - Single of the Week (A very funny, peppy song!)

"Whatever It Takes", SHeDAISY, Fortuneteller's Melody (Another song I stumbled upon yesterday while going through my iTunes library and it just spoke to me.)

"Don't Blink", Kenny Chesney, Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates (I've been really aware lately of how fast time passes. Time just seems to be screaming by! This song just spoke to me.)

What are you listening to?
