What's Happening Today?

J.K. Rowling writes an 800 word prequel to Harry Potter to be auctioned off for Dyslexia Action and English PEN...She should just write a whole book or a series on Harry's Parents for us all! ;o) The charity thing is cool tough. She's very good about helping out .

Why in God's name would you think it was a smart thing to sun bathe ON a railroad track?

Seriously? It's a scarf...Get over it! I despise Rachael Ray, her voice alone makes my skin crawl. "Yumo!" is not a word and why abbreviate it to "EVOO" if you're going to explain what it stands for every freaking time you say it? But whoever dreamed up this scenario (and I won't mention her by name because she's insane) is just completely delusional. Ugly scarf end of story. Move on! Also I'm not a fan of Dunkin Donuts, but they were wrong to bow to the hysterical screeches of someone who clearly has no grip on reality and pull this ad. More on the controversy here.

So Sad

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (AP) -- The 5-year-old daughter of Grammy-winning Christian music star Steven Curtis Chapman was struck and killed Wednesday by a sport utility vehicle driven by her brother, authorities said.

The girl, Maria Sue, was hit in the driveway of the family's home Wednesday afternoon by a Toyota Land Cruiser driven by her teenage brother, said Laura McPherson, a spokeswoman for the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

The brother, whose name and exact age weren't available, apparently did not see the girl, McPherson said. No charges are expected.

"It looks like a tragic accident," she said.

Several family members witnessed the accident, which happened in Williamson County just south of Nashville. The girl died later at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, hospital spokeswoman Laurie Holloway said.

I've been a huge fan of SCC for years. I'll admit I'm more partial to his earlier stuff, but his voice and enthusiasm are contagious! I saw him live in Baton Rouge years ago and his voice is even fabulous live! Our thoughts go out to Steven Curtis Chapman and his family and especially his son, who has a very long road ahead of him as he deals with the tradgedy.

What Are You Listening To: Cloudy Wednesday Edition

“Summertime” - New Kids on the Block, Summertime – Single (Oh they're back! It's a fun song, even if it does have a grammar issue...Yes I'm getting old! ;oP)

“Time After Time” - Sarah McLachlan & Cyndi Lauper, Rarities, B-Sides and Other Stuff, Vol. 2 (Beautiful song. I loved it when Cyndi first did this song years ago, but it's really good with Sarah added into the mix. Alexis thinks they are saying "time out time" and wanted to know why they were singing about "Time Out" and if they had been bad...Good times I tell you! ;o))

“Draw Me Nearer” - Meredith Andrews, The Invitation (Bonus Video Version) (I like the melody.)

“From the Sky" - Saving Jane, SuperGirl (I was looking through iTunes on my iPod and found this song and loved the clip so I bought the song.)

“Stars” - Mindi Abair, Stars (Another one I stumbled across on my iPod.)

“Don't Think I Don't Think About It” - Darius Rucker, Don't Think I Don't Think About It - Single (I love Darius Rucker, although I will admit that I'm a little over Hootie in general. Back in the day I went to a Hootie concert in Knoxville and there were some people crowd surfing and they dropped a guy on the ground. Darius didn't blink, stopped singing and told them to stop before they really hurt someone. I was highly amused! Anyway, apparently he's done a country song. I don't know the story behind it, but it's a good song.)

“Love Is a Beautiful Thing” - Phil Vassar, Prayer of a Common Man (I like Phil. He's a wonderful song writer. This is a really cute song and I especially like the line about "it's a good day to let it go" and "Mr. Charlie in his lime in his lime green suit is a handsome man remarks widow Callahan"...No rhyme or reason to what I like...I know my musical tastes are a bit diverse! ;op)

“Feels Like Tonight” – Daughtry, Daughtry (Not a fan of American Idol, but I've really liked some of the acts that have come out of the show.)

“More Time” – Needtobreathe, P.S. I Love You (Music from the Motion Picture) (Watched the movie, love it, loved the music, bought a few songs on iTunes.)

“4 Minutes (feat. Justin Timberlake & Timbaland)” – Madonna, 4 Minutes (feat. Justin Timberlake & Timbaland) (Madonna, Justin Timberlake...Enough said!)

“On a Night Like This” - Dave Barnes, Me and You and the World (Very haunting melody and a very beautiful song.)

“We Weren't Crazy” - Josh Gracin, We Weren't Crazy (Kind of one of those in your face songs that just feels good.)

“You Invite Me In” - Meredith Andrews, The Invitation (Bonus Video Version) (Another beautiful melody.)

“Hollywood's Not America” - Ferras, Hollywood's Not America – Single
(The title speaks for itself! ;oP)

“In Love With a Girl” - Gavin DeGraw, In Love With a Girl – Single (I just love this song. It's catchy.)

“I Stand” - Idina Menzel, I Stand (Alexis LOVES this song and I do too. Idina is awesome. I wish I had seen Wicked when she was playing Elphaba.)

“Everything We Had” - The Academy Is..., P.S. I Love You (Music from the Motion Picture) (Another song I liked from the movie.)

“It's Not Over” - Daughtry, Daughtry (Until it's over! ;oP)

“Grace” - Saving Jane, SuperGirl (Another iTunes find.)

“Lift Up Your Head” - Meredith Andrews, The Invitation (Bonus Video Version) (As opposed to what? ;oP)

“Best Days” - Graham Colton, Here Right Now (Bonus Track Version) (Gorgeous song!)

“What About Now” – Daughtry, Daughtry (Or maybe later? ;oP)

“Last Train Home” - Ryan Star, P.S. I Love You (Music from the Motion Picture) (Seriously this soundtrack has some awesome songs on it. I bought the ones I liked, but it's still a good soundtrack overall.)

Tooth Fairy Pillow For Miss G

Since we have our first loose tooth (even though it's not as loose now as it was two days ago, which is kind of weird, but still) Alexis wanted a Tooth Fairy Pillow!

Tooth Fairy Pillow

It's just the perfect size for her and it has its own little pocket for a tooth and of course the treasure the Tooth Fairy will leave once said tooth has been taken:

Tooth Fairy Pillow: The Pocket

And on the back a big old A for Alexis of course! ;o)

Tooth Fairy Pillow: The Back

Not bad considering I freehanded the A. I guess I freehanded the whole thing truth be told given I just cut out squares and rectangles and put them together with no pattern. I'm talented like that! ;oP Alexis picked all the fabric out herself from my stash. She's beyond herself with glee at the results. I'm glad she's easily amused! ;oP Did you know these suckers sell for upwards of $40? Seriously! You've got to be kidding me!!

Anyway, I hope you're all having a good day. I'll get back to the "What's Happening Today?" stuff tomorrow...Today I'm trying to keep my toes warm! ;oP

What's Happening Today?

The death toll in the Myanmar cyclone is now around 10,000. Devastating.

First listen to the new NKOTB single. (Yes I was a fan and I went to several concerts, but wasn't a screaming/hysterical fan though. I've never gotten that about people's reactions to famous people. People are people and it doesn't matter how famous someone is, they are still a person and all that screaming and stuff just makes my head hurt. In fact I could tell you a very funny story about my friend Sonya and I and a story about brownies and convincing the girls sitting in front of us at a concert that we were dating some of the band and their not so happy reaction and how we wondered why they thought we were serious given our seats were ok, but not that great and wouldn't a girlfriend get better seats? Plus there was obviously laughter in our eyes! But alas I won't. ..Good times I tell you...Good times! ;oP)
