Last week, I paid $4.19 at Costco which is much cheaper than any regular station near the major intersections near my house. Last night, I paid 4.33 at Costco. this is all for regular. I'm still saving at least 20 cents per gallon. I live in south San Jose ... Not San Francisco or the cities near there or near my job where it is closer to or above $5. My commute is near 65 miles each day. I'm scared to go to far on the weekend because it means I will have to fill up in fewer than 7 days. This is INSANE because I am seeing it in the food prices.

Posted by: Qusan at June 11, 2008 2:09 PM

Scary isn't it? I limit the beef that we eat and always buy grass fed, but with prices going up daily that's probably going to make beef an even more sometimes food. I can't wait until thing start coming in more so in the garden so I can cut the bill even more.

Yesterday when we were on the way to Alexis final dance/gymnastics class for the summer I saw $4.12 and $4.19 respectively at two different stations. Jamison's commute is about 16 miles round trip. Alexis and I stay home a lot more than we used to. With food prices sky rocketing as well it all just adds up. Jamison fills up once a month and since Alexis and I aren't really going many place lately it's about that for my car too. Sadly with hybrids we're still hurting at the pump.

Posted by: Dianne at June 11, 2008 2:25 PM

It may be semantics, but perhaps Paul Newman is denying reports that he has LUNG cancer. His friend says he has cancer, but doesn't say what kind.

In any case, I just had to edit the Wikipedia entry for him because someone had already listed him as dead. However, the date of death listed was 6/18/2008.

Posted by: Leann at June 12, 2008 11:23 AM

That's true. I think the reason people assume that it is lung cancer is because apparently he is quite the smoker and has been for decades. I saw a picture of him on Martha Stewart's blog the other day and he looks very, very ill. I hope he gets well if possible and if not then I hope he isn't in any pain.

Posted by: Dianne at June 12, 2008 11:52 AM

I look at it this way. The man's 83. He made it to 83 before cancer caught him. That's pretty miraculous in this day and age when 20 year olds are getting cancer.

On the hat ... I heard it was a "head corsage." Didn't her character frequently wear a big fake flower? I guess she just moved it to her head ...

I hadn't thought of that, but you may be on to something...

The green meeting article was interesting, but biodegradable balloons and recycled confetti, while better than conventional options, just seem kind of silly. Confetti and balloons are hardly essentials. Just doing without might work better.

And oh, that hat! Goodness!

I wondered what kind of meeting even had confetti and balloons? I've never been in a meeting like that! The balloons might be a good idea for a birthday party though...

I like to imagine that he'll somehow be VP this time around and maybe move up to Pres. in the future, but I guess that's a long shot at this point.

I'll readily admit that while I voted for Kerry in 2004 I was more so voting for Edwards than Kerry. I don't know if he'd go for the number 2 spot again, but I'd love to see it. I think he, much like Gore, has decided he can make a bigger difference working on his issues from the outside...

The death toll in the Myanmar cyclone is now around 10,000. Devastating.

First listen to the new NKOTB single. (Yes I was a fan and I went to several concerts, but wasn't a screaming/hysterical fan though. I've never gotten that about people's reactions to famous people. People are people and it doesn't matter how famous someone is, they are still a person and all that screaming and stuff just makes my head hurt. In fact I could tell you a very funny story about my friend Sonya and I and a story about brownies and convincing the girls sitting in front of us at a co
