What Are You Listening To: Cloudy Wednesday Edition

“Summertime” - New Kids on the Block, Summertime – Single (Oh they're back! It's a fun song, even if it does have a grammar issue...Yes I'm getting old! ;oP)

“Time After Time” - Sarah McLachlan & Cyndi Lauper, Rarities, B-Sides and Other Stuff, Vol. 2 (Beautiful song. I loved it when Cyndi first did this song years ago, but it's really good with Sarah added into the mix. Alexis thinks they are saying "time out time" and wanted to know why they were singing about "Time Out" and if they had been bad...Good times I tell you! ;o))

“Draw Me Nearer” - Meredith Andrews, The Invitation (Bonus Video Version) (I like the melody.)

“From the Sky" - Saving Jane, SuperGirl (I was looking through iTunes on my iPod and found this song and loved the clip so I bought the song.)

“Stars” - Mindi Abair, Stars (Another one I stumbled across on my iPod.)

“Don't Think I Don't Think About It” - Darius Rucker, Don't Think I Don't Think About It - Single (I love Darius Rucker, although I will admit that I'm a little over Hootie in general. Back in the day I went to a Hootie concert in Knoxville and there were some people crowd surfing and they dropped a guy on the ground. Darius didn't blink, stopped singing and told them to stop before they really hurt someone. I was highly amused! Anyway, apparently he's done a country song. I don't know the story behind it, but it's a good song.)

“Love Is a Beautiful Thing” - Phil Vassar, Prayer of a Common Man (I like Phil. He's a wonderful song writer. This is a really cute song and I especially like the line about "it's a good day to let it go" and "Mr. Charlie in his lime in his lime green suit is a handsome man remarks widow Callahan"...No rhyme or reason to what I like...I know my musical tastes are a bit diverse! ;op)

“Feels Like Tonight” – Daughtry, Daughtry (Not a fan of American Idol, but I've really liked some of the acts that have come out of the show.)

“More Time” – Needtobreathe, P.S. I Love You (Music from the Motion Picture) (Watched the movie, love it, loved the music, bought a few songs on iTunes.)

“4 Minutes (feat. Justin Timberlake & Timbaland)” – Madonna, 4 Minutes (feat. Justin Timberlake & Timbaland) (Madonna, Justin Timberlake...Enough said!)

“On a Night Like This” - Dave Barnes, Me and You and the World (Very haunting melody and a very beautiful song.)

“We Weren't Crazy” - Josh Gracin, We Weren't Crazy (Kind of one of those in your face songs that just feels good.)

“You Invite Me In” - Meredith Andrews, The Invitation (Bonus Video Version) (Another beautiful melody.)

“Hollywood's Not America” - Ferras, Hollywood's Not America – Single
(The title speaks for itself! ;oP)

“In Love With a Girl” - Gavin DeGraw, In Love With a Girl – Single (I just love this song. It's catchy.)

“I Stand” - Idina Menzel, I Stand (Alexis LOVES this song and I do too. Idina is awesome. I wish I had seen Wicked when she was playing Elphaba.)

“Everything We Had” - The Academy Is..., P.S. I Love You (Music from the Motion Picture) (Another song I liked from the movie.)

“It's Not Over” - Daughtry, Daughtry (Until it's over! ;oP)

“Grace” - Saving Jane, SuperGirl (Another iTunes find.)

“Lift Up Your Head” - Meredith Andrews, The Invitation (Bonus Video Version) (As opposed to what? ;oP)

“Best Days” - Graham Colton, Here Right Now (Bonus Track Version) (Gorgeous song!)

“What About Now” – Daughtry, Daughtry (Or maybe later? ;oP)

“Last Train Home” - Ryan Star, P.S. I Love You (Music from the Motion Picture) (Seriously this soundtrack has some awesome songs on it. I bought the ones I liked, but it's still a good soundtrack overall.)

Very good list. Not what I'm listening to at the moment but I saw K.T. Tunstall play at the Ryman last night. Absolutely great! She's even better live. Plus I love seeing artists play the Ryman... they are so geeked about playing there that they always seem to crank it up a notch. She was no exception & kept mentioning it.

Posted by: Sonya at May 21, 2008 12:29 PM

I think Darlene listens to her (or did at one point...I remember a conversation, but my brain isn't what is used to be ;oP!) Glad you had fun! :o)

I've been listening to a lot of Ryan Adams, Counting Crows, and REM lately. Goes well with the rainy weather. :)

Posted by: Allie at May 21, 2008 3:35 PM

I love REM. I stood out in the rain one time at one of their outside concerts. It was a good time.

Posted by: Dianne at May 21, 2008 7:52 PM

Were we at the same concert? In Nashville? Because I saw them in the rain too... one of the best concerts I've ever seen. I can't remember if we've discussed it before. I'm getting old & forgetful.

Posted by: Sonya at May 22, 2008 12:22 PM

Yes that was the concert. I even talked to you that night too! ;oP

Posted by: Dianne at May 22, 2008 12:41 PM

You think I'd have a better memory... I can't imagine how bad I'll be when I'm 80.

What Are You Listening To: Dreary Monday Edition

"Hallelujah", k.d. lang, Hymns of the 49th Parallel (I have heard many versions of this song, but this one is by far the best I've ever listened to. Her rendition just nails the whole feeling of the song.)

"She's Like the Wind", Patrick Swayze, Dirty Dancing (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) (When I heard Patrick had cancer I got a bit nostalgic and purchased this song on iTunes. I remember watching that movie over and over as a teenager. I've watched it recently and it's a bit corny, but still.)

"No Air", Jordin Sparks & Chris Brown, Jordin Sparks (Her voice is beautiful.)

"Shine", Anna Nalick, Shine (I was surfing through iTunes one day and found this song. It just grabbed me.)

"It's Not My Time", 3 Doors Down, It's Not My Time – Single (Another song I stumbled upon. Catchy.)

"I Am One (Bonus Track)", Chrisette Michele, I Am (Bonus Track Version) ( I was looking on iTunes after Chrisette was on Girlfriends to see if I could find the song she sang there about loving yourself. Sadly they haven't released that song, though they should, and I was listening to her other songs. I fell in love with this one. She has an amazing voice and the message of this song is stirring.)

"Soulmate", Natasha Bedingfield, Pocketful of Sunshine (A beautiful song.)

"Apologize (feat. OneRepublic)", Timbaland, Shock Value (This is a beautiful song. It has a very haunting melody.)

"What I Cannot Change", LeAnn Rimes, Family (I think all of us, women especially want to be everything to everyone and sometimes you just can't. Sometimes you just have to step away. We tend to expect more out of ourselves than even others do. This song deals with just that and it's beautiful to boot.)

"A Simple Love", Melissa Etheridge, The Awakening (I've loved Melissa Etheridge since the moment I heard her sing "Come to my Window". Her voice is just beautiful.)

You're Gonna Miss This, Trace Adkins, Greatest Hits, Vol. II: American Man (A beautiful ballad that reminds you that time passes quickly and not to wish it away even if you think you don't like what's happening at the moment.)

"Hollywood's Not America", Ferras, Hollywood's Not America – Single (This is another one I stumbled across listening to various tracks on iTunes. The title says it all. It's a really beautiful song.)

"So Close", Jon McLaughlin, Enchanted (Soundtrack from the Motion Picture) (Have you seen Enchanted yet? It's an adorable movie and I fell in love with this song when I heard it and immediately purchased it on iTunes.)

"The Tide Is Turning (After Live Aid)", Roger Waters, Radio K.A.O.S. (Very poignant to what is happening in America today.)

"Radio Nowhere", Bruce Springsteen, Radio Nowhere – Single (Who doesn't like a little of the Boss now and then?)

"Your Joy", Chrisette Michele, Your Joy - Single of the Week (This was a free single a while back on iTunes. I had forgotten I had it until yesterday when we were going through my iTunes library to make Jamison a CD to take to work. Her voice as I mentioned before is just beautiful.)

"He Hates Me", Sarah Johns, He Hates Me - Single of the Week (A very funny, peppy song!)

"Whatever It Takes", SHeDAISY, Fortuneteller's Melody (Another song I stumbled upon yesterday while going through my iTunes library and it just spoke to me.)

"Don't Blink", Kenny Chesney, Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates (I've been really aware lately of how fast time passes. Time just seems to be screaming by! This song just spoke to me.)

I actually just discovered him on YouTube last week, though when I saw him I recognized his face immediately so I have seen him before, I just didn't know his name. I love his Vlogs. He just has such an amazing spirit and seems so personable! Since I came across him I've watched all of his Vlogs.

John Barrowman? *that* John Barrowman?

(checks wikipedia)

Yup, that John Barrowman. So, have you been watching Torchwood?

Posted by: reno at October 2, 2007 10:00 AM

That's the one!

Yes. I like it a lot. Are you guys watching it too?

Posted by: Dianne at October 2, 2007 10:04 AM

One of us is. I have to preview each episode and decide whether she'll like it.... Still haven't decided about "Cyberwoman" yet.

Posted by: reno at October 2, 2007 12:05 PM

It is a bit darker than Dr. Who, but I like it that way.

Of course I'm still not completely over the whole Rose in another dimension story line so maybe I'm holding a grudge! LOL

But I will admit that Martha is growing on me. She's smart and has spunk!

Posted by: Dianne at October 2, 2007 12:14 PM

Standard procedure for the Doctor; don't place any bets on how long a companion will last. Or a Doctor, for that matter. (Tennant is contracted for the next two seasons, after that, who knows?)

Torchwood's good, but I suspect they made that episode just to see the fan-made cyberbikinis at the conventions.

Posted by: reno at October 2, 2007 12:38 PM

From what I understand next season is the last Dr. Who. They cite "monetary" concerns for special effects.

Posted by: Dianne at October 2, 2007 12:41 PM

Next season is the fourth. The fifth season has been reduced to three miniseries. The sixth season will probably occur.

Posted by: reno at October 2, 2007 1:29 PM

I guess time will tell then.

Pavarotti Dies

(CNN) -- Famed opera tenor Luciano Pavarotti, who appeared on stage with singers as varied as opera star Dame Joan Sutherland, U2's Bono and Liza Minnelli, died Thursday in Italy after suffering from pancreatic cancer, manager Terri Robson said in a statement. He was 71.

"The great tenor, Luciano Pavarotti, died today at 5:00 a.m. at his home in Modena, the city of his birth," according to Robson.

"The Maestro fought a long, tough battle against the pancreatic cancer which eventually took his life. In fitting with the approach that characterized his life and work, he remained positive until finally succumbing to the last stages of his illness."

I had hoped when he was released to go home that he would bounce back, but it appears that was not what fate intended. He was truly a lovely opera singer. He will be missed.

Concerts To Help Raise Awareness Of Global Warming

Feb. 15, 2007 — Recently nominated for a Nobel Prize and waiting to walk the red carpet at the Academy Awards, former Vice President Al Gore will unveil his next big endeavor today from Los Angeles: a single-day series of concerts to put the issue of climate change before a global audience.

Modeled after 2005's Live 8 concerts highlighting African debt relief, the event is scheduled for July 7 with seven concerts on seven continents.

Gore is expected to make the announcement alongside musicians Jon Bon Jovi, Sting and Pharrell Williams.

This is a brilliant idea! Take the message far and wide. The science is there, sometimes you just have to use other avenues to get the message to people that might normally not understand. Once again Al Gore is ahead of the game.

Now sir if you'd just run for President! ;o) (The article also discusses that little tidbit.)

Blues legend B.B. King hospitalized

GALVESTON, Texas (AP) -- B.B. King was hospitalized for undisclosed reasons but was in good condition early Friday, a hospital official said.

The 81-year-old bluesman, who had been scheduled to perform at the Grand Opera House on Thursday night, was admitted to The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, said Paul McCarthy, a nurse administrator.

McCarthy said King was not in the intensive care unit and that he could be released later Friday or Saturday.

I have always loved B.B. King's voice. I'll admit I don't know the names of his songs, but when I hear that voice I know it's him! You just have to stop and listen! It's so easy just to melt into his music. It's epic.

I hope he's back on his feet and feeling better soon.

Yeah Right!

LOS ANGELES - A day after Britney Spears filed divorce papers, Kevin Federline counter-filed court papers Wednesday seeking sole custody of the couple's two children.

The former backup dancer and aspiring rapper is also seeking spousal support. He says the couple's community assets are "uncertain," though Spears said in her divorce papers there were none to speak of, suggesting the two had a prenuptial agreement in place.

No court in their right mind is going to give FedEx (Formerly known as KFed) Loser Extraordinaire custody of a potato, let alone two young children! He's just trying to get more money out of Britney, because he's a dead beat loser! Britney's not the sharpest tack in the box, but she was smart enough (or her people were anyway) to at least get a prenup and though she's made some very public mistakes in terms of raising her first son, haven't we all made a mistake at one point or another? Her heart is in the right place, and despite being a little "country" (her choice of words, not mine) she appears to adore her children. This is most likely her first experience with children period given she was taking the pop world by storm when most of us were babysitting. She's gotten her ducks in a row and as I mentioned above no court in their right mind is giving FedEx anything, especially two children!

So Britney, welcome back to the light! I just have one question for you...What the hell were you thinking??

Kevin as custodial parent? Puleese! He isn't taking care of the kids from his first "relationship". I guess he thinks that since he probably won't ever be gainfully employed, he can just stay home and raise babies. But if he abandoned the first two, why should he get custody of these?

Posted by: Qusan at November 9, 2006 11:00 AM

I think it all boils down to him trying to make more money. His "album" is a failure and he wants to keep living the big life.

Plus there is buzz that right before this went down he wents nuts at their house and tore up some furniture and threw some things around. I think she decided it wasn't worth risking him snapping and hurting her or the kids.

I also think he's pissed that she didn't tell him she was filing for divorce before she did it. She just sort of blasted him with it and I think he's trying to make her pay.

Taking The Long Way

I pre-ordered The Dixie Chicks' new album Taking The Long Way on iTunes a few weeks ago and it was ready for download this morning and I have to say I LOVE it! Aside from the in your face, go to H-E-Double Hockey Sticks vibe of Not Ready to Make Nice, which I fell in love with when they released in on their website a month ago or so, I would have to say so far my favorite song is The Long Way Around because it sums up much how I feel about the town I grew up in and then some! Heck the whole album is awesome! Run now and go get it...what are you waiting for??!!?

I just got finished listening to What's Left of Me, Nick Lachey's sophomore solo effort and I HIGHLY recommend this album! It's excellent! I had heard several of the songs before it was released, but the whole album is a wonderful listen! To be perfectly honest I had never heard of Nick Lachey before Newlyweds, but the man can sing! It's soulful, it's heartfelt and the music is wonderful! And of course Nick's voice and emotion brings it all together. Check it out if you get a chance...It's definitely worth it!

P!nk's Dear Mr. President

If you haven't heard P!nk's new song entitled Dear Mr. President with the Indigo Girls then you're in luck...I have a link for you! It's a very impassioned and very meaningful song. And to top it off she does an excellent job with the song...the song itself and the music are beautiful and extremely moving! P!nk's whole new album entitled "I'm Not Dead" is awesome...I highly recommend it!

Check it out here.

And just for fun let's throw in the lyrics too!:

"Dear Mr. President"
(Feauring the Indigo Girls)

Dear Mr. President
Come take a walk with me
Let's pretend we're just two people and
You're not better than me
I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly

What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street
Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep
What do you feel when you look in the mirror
Are you proud

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye
How do you walk with your head held high
Can you even look me in the eye
And tell me why

Dear Mr. President
Were you a lonely boy
Are you a lonely boy
Are you a lonely boy
How can you say
No child is left behind
We're not dumb and we're not blind
They're all sitting in your cells
While you pave the road to hell

What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away
And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay
I can only imagine what the first lady has to say
You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye
How do you walk with your head held high
Can you even look me in the eye

Let me tell you bout hard work
Minimum wage with a baby on the way
Let me tell you bout hard work
Rebuilding your house after the bombs took them away
Let me tell you bout hard work
Building a bed out of a cardboard box
Let me tell you bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
You don't know nothing bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
Oh

How do you sleep at night
How do you walk with your head held high
Dear Mr. President
You'd never take a walk with me
Would you

I like most of the programming I've heard. There are a couple of hosts who come across as nasty as the right-wingers, and I can do without that. The most amazing thing to me is the Jerry Springer show. I wouldn't watch him on TV if you paid me, but he does a great job as a radio host; he listens to his callers without interrupting, he's thoughtful, and there's no chair-throwing trailer trash.

Juilliard toasts 100 years as bastion of arts

New York

Juilliard, the performing arts school which boasts such illustrious alumni as cellist Yo-Yo Ma and actors Kevin Spacey, Laura Linney and Robin Williams.

Even Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan studied there, playing the clarinet before he turned from music to economics.

As Juilliard celebrates its 100th anniversary this year, the school's President Joseph Polisi says much has changed since it was founded in 1905 as the Institute of Musical Art.

The disciplines of dance and drama were added in 1951 and 1968 respectively, and Juilliard moved in 1969 to the city's premier arts complex, the Lincoln Center, where its neighbors include the Metropolitan Opera and the New York City Ballet.

I've always been fascinated by Julliard. Of course I was never talented enough in the arts that are taught there to even consider attending, but I think at some point I would have jumped at the chance if I had been given the opportunity. Here's hoping they have many more 100 year anniversaries to come.

"Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off"

Joe Nichols has out done himself with this video. First thing, you can never go wrong with invoking Bon Jovi in your song. I also like the jumping in the water and it actually effecting the sound that you hear. I don't know why that impressed me, maybe it's the physicist in me wanting to have a little reality. The end of the video is embarrassing folks, so prepare yourself before you start watching it. But it's still funny!

Marc Cohn Shot in the Head

DENVER

A man suspected of shooting Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Marc Cohn during an attempted carjacking was arrested after a 5 1/2-hour standoff with police.

Cohn, who had a hit with the song "Walking in Memphis" and won the Grammy for best new artist in 1992, was shot in the temple late Sunday when a man fired into his band's van in a parking garage.

Cohn, who is married to ABC news reporter Elizabeth Vargas, was treated at a hospital and released Monday. He canceled the remaining five stops on his tour with Suzanne Vega.

The bullet grazed Cohn's driver and tour manager Thomas Dube, who also was treated and released.

Police spokesman Sonny Jackson said the bullet appeared to have been slowed by the van's windshield and by Dube before hitting Cohn. "Frankly, I can't tell you how he survived," Jackson said.

Our house last night:

Me: Marc Cohn was shot in the head.
J: Who is Marc Cohn?
Me: He sang "Walking in Memphis" and that song you made me turn off a few minutes ago because you said it was sad. ("I Hope That I Don't fall in Love With You" from the Prince and Me soundtrack.)
J: Oh him!
Me: But apparently he's ok. They shot him in the temple, but amazingly he survived.
J: Unbelievable!

Cool Songs

With my new computer I've finally been able to access iTunes again and let me tell you I missed me some iTunes! Anyway, iTunes has a feature where they offer one song a week for free. Last week's song was Galang by M.I.A, which I must admit isn't the kind of music I usually listen to, but I totally dug it. This week's song is excellent as well, it's called Different by Acceptance. Shooter Jennings

Normally, I wouldn't have anything positive to say about anyone that associates with Toby Keith. His ruthless partisanship during the last election to support Bush and his shameless explotiation of US Soldiers for personal gain in his videos, ranks him pretty high on my list of worthless scum. And before all you neo-Con nutjobs go nuts, I'm well aware that he's a Democrat, but lay down with dogs, come up with fleas. Or in this case, consort with godless Republican fanatics against the United States, gain the wrath of those of us that stand against them and all the evil their way of life represents.

Ok, somehow I got off topic. Let's try this again. Shooter Jennings has a great song called "4th of July". I've provided a link below to their website where you can listen to it. I've also provided a link for their album, I've heard none of the other songs on the album. The 4th of July song really appeals to me because it reminds me of the year before Dianne and I got married. We drove all over the countryside going to her family functions. We didn't have a dime to our names, we couldn't afford to go, and yet we pulled it off time and again. Somewhere in all that mess we abandoned who were were, we fell in love and became the couple you see before you today. It's rare that a song takes me back because I have so little in common with most people, but this one even connects to me. Listen to song on their website and if you feel the urge buy their album.

Check out Shooter Jennings website, click here.

I agree! I love this song! Maybe Southern Rock isn't dead!

Posted by: dar at May 23, 2005 4:47 PM

I wouldn't go so far as to say it was ever alive. But every once in a while a bunch grungy drunk southern boys happen upon something that has a wider appeal for one reason or another. This happens to be one of the best ones.

Posted by: ManDrake at May 23, 2005 9:33 PM

Shooter is one country-ish guy I like (& it's a pretty short list). Did you know that he's Waylon Jennings son? Guess it's like father like son - little bit drunk, little bit outlaw.

Posted by: Sonya at May 24, 2005 1:08 PM

Interesting, I didn't know that! Now that I think about it there is an album cover on the wall that looked sort of like Waylon Jennings, but I didn't know about the relationship to make the connection. All the outlaw country guys look the same so it's hard to know anything about who they are related too.

Well OK!

I don't even know where to go with this one, but apparently Kenny Chesney and Renee Zellweger have gotten married. Yes, I said that right, M-A-R-R-I-E-D! It's almost like saying Mother Theresa married Marylin Manson, or some other equivalent that is equally as weird, but we here at Daffodil Lane wish them well. Everyone deserves a shot at love.

That's the craziest thing I've ever heard!! How could Renee fall in love with such a loser??? My god does she know he's a convicted criminal??? I mean most men marry above their station, but my goodness it's like jointing the lowest point on Earth with the highest. It's just not done! I wish Renee luck, as for Kenny, I recommend that he settle down and stop acting like a 3 year old!

Posted by: ManDrake at May 10, 2005 9:48 AM

There's no accounting for people's tastes, when it comes to love. I personally like both of them. Although, I don't think Renee is not the sex pot that men seem to think she is. She is funny and seems to be a nice person. She also has a soft spot for Mountain folk, which she talked about during her PR for Cold Mountain. So now she has a mountain man, who likes to pretend he's Jimmy Buffett. I like to pretend I'm a skinny 20' something artist who dates Travis Fimmel, but that's a story for another time and place. The point is, we are all freaks. Hopefully some time, some where, we find another freak that is compatible with our own weirdness.

Posted by: Dar at May 11, 2005 9:40 AM

Technically he was riding a stolen horse, so that's the misuse.

Posted by: ManDrake at May 11, 2005 9:43 AM

If someone gives you permission to use "something", is that 'something" stolen when you do just that? I think not. But then we get into a match of "he said/she said...." which isn't worth a hill of beans in a court of law. Which is why nothin' happened to Kenny or Tim. At least nothin' worth noting.

Posted by: dar at May 11, 2005 3:26 PM

Like you said though it's the issue of whether or not the cop actually said, "Yes, you can ride my horse" and whether or not he meant "ride" as in take off on it or "sit" on it. Then them being good old boys it got out of hand. Or since they are celebrities they think they can get away with anything. It all depends on how you look at it I guess.

What's a guy gotta do?

Ok, I'm going to rant about country music for a little bit. Joe Nichols is being funny in the video. But I think that his hilarious commentary on men, might be missing the educational possibilities he could have provided. Since he didn't cover it, I will. Some rules in regards to women that rednecks might not know.

1) You don't touch a woman you don't know unless it's to save her life from a clear and obvious threat and she is unable to save herself. Actually it's best to give them a decent yard or so between you and them.

2) Drinking may give you courage, but it also weakens your good sense so that you think breaking rule #1 is a good idea.

3) Women are under no obligation to acknowledge your existence because you are polite to them or acknowledge them. They can walk right by you and it's completely ok. If you're breaking rule #2 then this won't make sense to you, but those are the facts.

4) If a woman chooses to pay attention to your existence she's under no obligation to accept your advances. It doesn't matter if she thinks you're funny, or cute or anything. She's is entitled to have a great time with you and never speak to you again. Which leads us back to rule #3.

5) Finally and most importantly, if a woman is running away from you, for goodness sakes give up. That's a dead give away that she has decided to execute rule #3.

Having said that, I've broken the first four rules myself. ;) I was drunk in the dorms one weekend and saw a female friend of mine caught in a conversation with a frat boy in the hall of the dorm. She had that look on her face that women get, like why doesn't someone rescue me from this idiot, so as I walked by, I scooped her up and carried her off! Of course, she never saw me coming so she screamed, and then started laughing at me. The funny part is I basically kidnapped a woman in the middle of a party and carried her out the doorway and the frat boy and everyone else didn't know how to react. The moral of this story is that better you know a woman the more flexible the rules can be. The important thing is to always respect women. Which I think Joe is trying to say in his song, but some people might be too dim to get it.

Watch the video here.

Country Singer Chris LeDoux Dies at 56

Jamison is a much bigger country music fan than I am, but I really liked LeDoux's rendition of "Life is a Highway" among others. iTunes and My New Favorite Song

I decided last night to give iTunes a try and I have to say I love it! 99 cents per song and $9.99 for most albums, instantly downloaded to your computer! It's awesome!

A few weeks ago when Jamison's mom was here we were walking at Arundel Mills and I heard a Martina McBride song that I absolutely fell in love with! I you haven't heard In My Daughter's Eyes grab a tissue and check it out! It's the sweetest, most heartfelt song I've heard in a long time. It's especially poignant now that Alexis is in my life. Martina doesn't have a video out for the song yet, but check out the lyrics:

In My Daughter's Eyes

In my daughter's eyes
I am a hero
I am strong and wise and I know no fear
But the truth is plain to see
She was sent to rescue me
I see who I wanna be
In my daughter's eyes

In my daughter's eyes
Everyone is equal
Darkness turns to light
And the world is at peace
This miracle God gave to me
Gives me strength when I am weak
I find reason to believe
In my daughter's eyes

And when she wraps her hand around my finger
How it puts a smile in my heart
Everything becomes a little clearer
I realize what life is all about
Is hanging on when your heart has had enough
Is giving more when you feel like giving up
I've seen the light
In my daughter's eyes

In my daughter's eyes
I can see the future
A reflection of who I am
And what will be
And though she'll grow and someday leave
Maybe raise a family
When I'm gone I hope you'll see
How happy she made me
And I'll be there
In my daughter's eyes

It's a great song!
